Renowned medical device entrepreneur Steve Arless joins CTS Board.

Montreal (April 15, 2013) - The CTS Healthcare Board of Directors is pleased to welcome Mr. Steve Arless as a new member of the board.

Mr. Arless brings more than 35 years of extensive Canadian and international experience in the development, marketing and sales of medical devices to the CTS. He began his career with Smith & Nephew Inc., where he rose to serve as President of the Canadian operations. From their Mr. Arless notably served as President and Chief Executive Officer of CryoCath Technologies Inc from April 1996 to July 2006. In that time, he took the company from a start-up to a worldwide recognized leader in the field cardiac electrophysiology. CryoCath was ultimately acquired by Medtronic Inc in 2008.

After the great success of CryoCath, Mr. Arless has supported a number of local medical device companies including Cardianove; Resonant Medical, and Skeltex. Then starting in March 2009, he became CEO of CardioInsight up to April 2012. CardioInsight, a Cleveland-based company, has raised over $20 million in Series B and C financing rounds. Its technology is now recognized as the future of cardiac mapping systems.

M. Arless served on the Board of Directors of several Canadian medical devices companies. He also teaches, as Adjunct Professor, at the post-graduate level at Concordia University’s John Molson School of Business in Montreal, with a focus on Entrepreneurism and Corporate Governance. Mr. Arless’ most recent award, in October, 2005, was as Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year in healthcare. Mr. Arless holds a B.Sc. degree in Chemistry from McGill University, and an MBA from Concordia University in Montreal.

  • Mr. Tony Falco, president and CEO at Elekta Canada;
  • Ms. Danièle Lalande, Associate at Gascon & associés
  • Ms. Geneviève Lavertu, Director, Legal Affairs, Business Development and Clinical Research at Medtronic Canada;
  • Mr. Reginald Lavertu, Chair of CDEC Rosemont Petite Patrie board.
